Words can’t begin express how relieved I am to know that my countrymen have evolved. The soul crushing 8 years of “W” are almost worth
it—if it meant that people would be shaken to their core. It hasn’t even been two weeks since Barack Obama was elected, and the feeling of
hope is palpable. Even with the economy as bleak as it is, people are smiling at each other as they pass in the street. Personally I feel like
flying my flag for the first time in my adult life.
I can’t wait until January 20, when Barack can officially take the reins and George will pack his Dick and leave on the jackass he Rove in on.
As for concert coverage of late, I’ve scaled back my photography assignments to focus on my photo editing gig with LiveDaily . I’m also
spending time designing my 2009 wall calendar. I did catch a couple of gigs since September, and I’m still glowing from seeing Santogold
for the first time. Her songs bring tears to my eyes, especially “LES Artistes” (it’s the story of my life). It’s official, Ms. Santi White has my
heart!
Another highlight for me happened due to a power outage in San Francisco the night before the election. The Dears and The Secret
Machines were booked to play at The Independent. As the audience was waiting patiently in the dark, Murray Lightburn (frontman of The
Dears) took the stage with his acoustic guitar and while a stagehand held a flashlight over his head he serenaded the crowd – during the
fourth song the lights popped back on. It was amazing, I even made a couple of new friends, check out what Strom of Wave Array had to
say about the night
Upcoming coverage plans (in pencil) are: Dir En Grey, AC/DC, Ledisi, Ozomatli, Blackalicious, and George Clinton.
Cheers! HM
